Jervis Bay Shark Week

Do you want the opportunity to get up close and personal with sharks in the wild? Do you want to learn more about why sharks are important to our oceans? Do you have a fear of sharks that is based around a misunderstanding?

From the 29th of September to the 7th of October, The Jervis Bay Marine Discovery and research centre will be hosting “Jervis Bay Shark Week 2019” – A week focused on celebrating the large aggregations of Port Jackson sharks in Jervis Bay through community snorkel events and other shark-themed activities. We are hoping to introduce people to these beautiful animals in a safe and stress-free way so that they can learn about them. We want to share our love for sharks and teach people about the importance of them in our marine environment.

Throughout Jervis Bay Shark Week 2019, we will be hosting:

  • Guided community snorkel events with Port Jackson sharks
  • An environmental short film competition
  • Documentary and movie screenings
  • Arts and crafts activities for children
  • Plus many more fun, family-friendly events and activities.
